Dear Ramadan
Day 30,

With heavy hearts
And beautiful smiles
We prepare our final send offs
But it’s not forever
For we shall meet again
Next year, In Shaa Allah.

‎اَللّهُمَّ بَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَان
Allahumma Ballighna Ramadan
O Allah, let us reach the month of Ramadan

We say our goodbyes
And thanking you, O Blessed Month
For bringing out the best versions of ourselves

‎الْلَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنَّا
Allahua innaka affuwun tuhibbu al-afwa fa’fu annā
O Allah, indeed You are forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive us.

Day 28,

The last odd night is tonight
Our final chance at the night of Power
Which is equivalent to a thousand months
“Which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?”

Ya An-Nāfi’u bestow upon us goodness in our hearts.

Happiness, Sadness
Both emotions
Neither one nor the other surpasses
For our sacred month has reach its end.

Ya Ar-Ra ūf take pity on Your humble servants for we are in need of Your mercy.

Odd day, Even night
Sleepless nights, Stressful day
Striving for this world and the Hereafter.
Such is the life of a human being.

Ya Al-Ghafūr forgive us Your humble servants.

Dear Ramadan
Day 22,

Today is an odd night
Enticing is sleep,
But the Hereafter is so much better.
So let’s cast that sleep aside
And look for our Lord when He is looking for us.

Ya Al-Fattāh grant us victory against our hearts desires.

Today is an even night
However all nights are sacred
For we are in a sacred month,
In the last 10 nights.

Ya Al-Ghaffār forgive us our shortcomings.

Already at your end,
The search is just beginning,
This night being an odd night.
Striving in Your path Ya Allah,
To bask in Your mercy and Love.

Ya Al-Mutakabbir bestow upon us the blessing of the Night of Power.

Being more specific
For nothing is impossible in the sight of Allah
So don’t limit yourself.
Ya Dhul-Jalāli Wal Ikrām, Your bounty is limitless, grant us peace and tranquility in this life and the next.

Not just reading.

Both then and now.

Ya Al-Wahhāb bestow upon us the ability to use the knowledge You have given us in the best way.

Looking forward to the blessed night
Seeking more knowledge from the Holy Book
A means to get closer to my Rabb,
Like He instructed our Prophet,
Say “My Lord increase me in knowledge”.

Ya Al-‘Aleem bless us with abundant and beneficial knowledge.

Ya Al-Latīf wrap us in Your unending gentleness and kindness.

And leaving the rest
To Al-Bāsit, hoping to better ourselves.
Ya Al-Bāsit expand our hearts towards You and Your religion.

Dear Ramadan
Day 13,

Souls returned, Some gifted
Some grieved, Others celebrated
That is Life
For every soul that is gifted shall taste death.

Ya Al-Hayy, Ya Al-Qayyūm, by Your mercy, I seek help. Rectify all my affairs and do not entrust me to myself even for the blink of an eye.

Trying to reap all your benefits,
Devils chained,
Gates closed,
Mercy upon mercy,
But we sometimes falter
And we think “Was it me all along?”

Ya Ar-Rahmān, Ya Ar-Raheem continue to bestow your endless mercy upon us.

Feels like yesterday,
We were celebrating your arrival,
After praying endless and tirelessly to meet you.
Ya Allah grant us the ability to attain all our goals and more.
